Liew graduated from Polytechnic Ungku Omar (Ipoh) in 1995 with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He further pursued his studies at University Technology Malaysia (Skudai) where he graduated with a Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1998.
Liew began his career in 1995 with a Japanese company, subsequently moving on to work with several other companies, including a gas contractor company, a multinational gas company, chemical plant and petrochemical process equipment producer. In 2000, he obtained the PKG certification from Suruhanjaya Tenaga for both Natural Gas and Liquified Petroleum Gas. His work experience with the gas and chemical companies include providing medical gas piping, cryogenic tanker delivery and maintenance, project for filling plant, building process plant and heavy equipment fabricator for main reactor fabrication works.
With his extensive experience and knowledge gained throughout his career, Liew later moved on to start his own company – Prudence Concept Sdn. Bhd. – in 2017.
